AU via Lake Martin

Well this weekend was totally random and literally not decided on until the last minute, but overall...so glad it panned out. I had my bags packed for a weekend trip to ATL until my dad called saying he had an extra ticket to the AU vs TN game. Yay! I decided after a day of overanalyzing that I would go for AU! Sarah (Haley Hogan's BFF from UT) and her husband got a big group together to go to their place on Lake Martin. It was a totally random group, consisting of graduates from AU, UA, UT, Florida and Ole Miss!

Sarah was the hostest with the mostest! We had everything from burgers and steaks at night to delicious breakfast with eggs, biscuits and gravy, and hashbrowns in the morning! Friday night everyone trickled in from traveling and we all get acquainted over some card games and a fabulous game of Flipcup! gotta love it! LOL! Luckily, Kevin was smart enough to rent a van and a driver to take us to Auburn with drop off and pick up on campus! It couldn't have gone smoother! Although I didn't get to tailgate as long as I'd hoped, it was just good to be back around orange and blue tailgating!!!

Saturday night consisted of UGA getting stomped and the Bama fans being annoying as hell. Sorry, but if you saw this very drunk guy we were with there would be not one bit of doubt in that statement! He even yelled the statement "oh the Bear must be feeling good tonight". Seriously????...ok moving on! Sunday was perfect weather for a 2 hour amazing boat ride!!! I always have felt an amazing amount of peace on the lake, which was very much needed. And for a cherry on top, I found out one of my reasons for going to ATL took an interesting turn of events and I'm sooo glad I went to Auburn and the lake. New friends, new fun, fabulous lake/football weekend!

3 boys and 2 girls

Ok so for those of you who don't know yet...my dear sister is preggers!!! I, of course, am very, very excited about this since many of you know how much I love being an "aunt" to my friend's babies! There's only one big problem with this exciting time....my sister DOES NOT want to find out the sex of the baby!! And it's killing me! Between the two of us, I'm definitely "the planner" and she's definitely the very laid back one. So not being able to shop and buy lots of pink or blue is driving me mad! The bigger she gets the more annoyed I get! Now, I know when the day comes, yes, it'll be SO exciting and maybe worth the wait but that day seems like an eternity. She's due October 27th, so yes, much closer than I was in March when she had the lima bean in her belly.

It's been driving me so crazy that I've had dreams about it...5 of them!!! The closer she gets to due date, the more specific they get. The first dream was that it was a boy, the next that it was a girl, the next that it was a boy, then another it was a boy and last night a girl! The last 2 have been so specific...the last boy dream, I could see him clear as day...he had think black hair with chubby cheeks and tan! But last night i dreamed it was a girl who they named Tienna Renea (I even got name in this one! mighty interesting name too!) she was itty bitty with little hair and was delivered during a hurricane. I dreamed that my dad was so nervous he took a muscle relaxer and we had to get a cab to pick him up b/c he couldn't drive to the hospital. And some of brooke's friends were too drunk to drive so the cab got them too! LOL!! Crazy huh??? There's all kinds of meanings probably wrapped up in those dreams! My boss always tells me that God often speaks to us through our dreams...scary to think what he was telling me?

Needless to say I'm excited and learning patience, which everyone could use a little more of in life. I'm just tired of calling the baby an "it" and hoping he/she doesn't have identity crisis later in life! LOL!
Watch one day, if the Lord blesses me with children, I'll probably make everyone wait! Ha!

Swollen weekend

Well I would call this an up & down weekend... it started Friday late afternoon w/ a bottle of wine by myself, some tears, and a bath...very pathetic I know. But for those of you who know about my last weekend events you know it's very needed (for those of you who don't sorry, not bloggable material, more face to face, feel free to ask when i see you next! few boys issues) But then I got my second wind about 9:30...my friend Sara (butlter) wanted me to join her at Innisfree and for some reason in my state of sorrow that made sense...God has his ways I guess!? Ha! But I'm so glad I went and got out of the house. And as Sara put it "throw some hemorrhoid creme on those eyes, use lots of cover up and come out!" We enjoyed some patio time w/ some friends of hers and sat back and analyzed all the people slowly filtering into the busyness of Innisfree late nights! There was also a cute guy friend of theirs who was a tad drunk and attempting to flirt, which sadly enough MADE  my night! LOL!!! I also met a girl who had just broken up w/ her boyfriend of 10 years...she put my story to shame!

Saturday was ultra-productive...I did about 6 loads of laundry! Woohoo! And cleaned and cleaned! It was just one of those days when it felt good to clean! I figured those don't come around too often so I tried to take advantage of it! My poor, pregnant sister was sick w/ a sinus infection and has felt miserable...her one request of what I could do to help was go buy her maternity tops since none of hers fit any more. So off I went to Target shopping in the maternity section...LOL! I chose quickly!!!

Since everyone was in Auburn I had very few choices of people to watch the game with...for some reason I chose all Alabama fans! Ha! I have learned much patience and kindness after watching games w/ these "other folks" 2 weekends in a row! We went to Katie's house and had a great lil, relaxing party...minus the stressful screams at the end of the game once I had enough beverages to yell loudly at stupid Les Miles!!!!! But overall, proud of my AU Tigers! Sunday was church, lunch w/family and another shower for Brookie and baby! She got lots of great stuff and I'm sooo ready for the baby to be here ASAP!!! I was in my dress til 5 pm though and dead dog tired by then. Then for an emotional ending to my weekend I finished reading The Last Lecture, which is so good but so sad! I recommend it as an easy read for all! It makes you think about how you live your life. But how ironic it was, that my eyes hit the pillow swollen just as the weekend started, just w/ a different, more positive state of mind! :)

Happy Hump!

Ok for all who had a sleepless night worrying about how I managed from my horrible day...I'm alive and better today! Yay! Actually yesterday right after I wrote that I had 2 fabulous chats, one with my dear Laura-who had some good thoughts to my current boy problems and another with my co-worker Joseph who probably doesn't care what I have to say but is sweet enough to act like he does and to put a few points in there to make me laugh and move on from my drama!

Not to mention a fabulous 3.5 mile run/walk, which at the time was a lil painful but well worth it in the end!! I had a hearty potato for dinner, which hit the spot, and then some good TV time. Gotta admit I love some 90210...nothing like taking it back old school in a modern way. Oh and sadly enough watching Biggest Loser made me feel a lot better about myself...mean, I know, but true those folks need to get themselves healthier! (as I suck down a morning Coca-Cola!)

Well, surviving the workload today will be a true test...I'm back to my very frustrated thoughts on my job. Once again reconsidering how soon I can get out of here and what I can do next. ALL prayers are appreciated!!! So happy Hump Day to all!!!

:(

Having a bad day...just needed to write that out loud...sometimes that helps. I know tomorrow or maybe the next hour will be better but right now, i'm sad, frustrated, confused and annoyed! I think sometimes it's good to know when others are having bad days so you don't feel so lonely yourself. B/c really it's all situational and the very thing that i could be having a bad day about maybe the reason someone else is having a great day. Funny how God does those things some times. A good run this afternoon will hopefully help...I wish all my friends were sitting in my office with me right now that would help my day to see all your smiling faces! Miss you all! Thanks for being my friends!

Zin...the white one

Ok so as I write this I sit all cozy on my couch watching America's Next Top Model, savoring my delicious chicken dinner I made and enjoying a glass of wine...yes, white zinfadel! Now some might chuckle at this, some might some yum, some might say yuck...but ME likie! (although it's not my #1) My roomies definitely made fun of me for purchasing it, which it was actually left over from a bachelorette weekend, but why not? It's sweet, pink and cheap! (and all of you know i love a good bargain!) So let me just take a moment to cheers those who make White Zinfadel! It has been the beginning taste of wine loving for many of my friends and others out there who began their desire for wine off the sweetness of White Zin. And yes, it might not be the most proper wine to request at a fancy restaurant but for a night at home with myself and some TV, bring it on baby! Plus, it's guranteed to be at a gas station if you're in a hurry! LOL!!

Interesting fact: Demand for White Zinfandel has been falling in recent years, but it still outsells red Zinfandel 6:1 by volume. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Zinfandel)

P.S. Tyra is weird, crazy! :)

I would be the cymbal

So this weekend was an interesting one...I got an invite to the symphony at the last minute on Friday. Random, I know but I figured why the hell not? The tickets were free accompanied by free champagne and an after party at B &A! I must say it's not something i would ever personally pay money for but overall it was a very good cultural experience! It definitely got my mind creatively thinking. One song I totally loved! The other songs, I was developing into the soundtrack of my life. Like thinking: this would be a perfect diddy to play as I cross the line finishing a 1/2 marathon! haha! Or another train of thought was what symphony instrument would I be or am I most like...conclusion....the cymbal. An instrument that's small but powerful. And could be annoying to some...haha...just like me sometimes, some might say! Oh and I must say it was refreshing to see the tambourine being used in some other fashion besides at a drunken band party!!!
Not to mention but I met some new people. Sarah (Haley's college BFF) and her husband had some new friends I got to hang with this weekend. Always good to be around some new faces. Saturday we all watched the games over at one of the guys house. Auburn won, I was happy! :) Until the end of the night when I got the most random stomach bug...ended up curled in bed with a 102 fever! All night felt like crap but recovered enough to lay around all day Sunday with no fever! It was the weirdest thing! Being sick is no fun! It reminded me of my horrible transatlantic flight from Europe last time. I began to appreciate, that even though i couldn't stop shaking with 3 layers on, at least I wasn't slumped over an airplane bathroom toilet collecting thousands of germs! Haha!!! Tried to find the positive in my misery! :) Hope everyone had a good weekend!

2 years of loving 2

Wow, can't believe it's been 2 years since Laura, one of my best friends from high school, had her twins! Monday we had their b'day pool party...gosh that'll make a girl feel old for sure! But you get over it very quickly when you realize you wouldn't want to be anywhere else besides getting a cupcake shoved in your face or a cupcake kiss! Let me take this time to say how proud I am of my Laura for being such a good mother to TWO babies, something that is tougher than it sounds! She has grown in so many ways and gives those babies so much love. Not to be excluded, one of my favorite hubbies Blake, who is an amazing dad that loves playing like a kid himself with them two, which is why Blake and I get along so well! Haha! (sorry I built the twins their first fort without you there Blake) With my sister due in October, I can only imagine the joy my true niece or nephew will bring, since these 2 aren't even blood related and I can't get enough of them or their love!!!!

Auburn...felt like my Cheers

It's that time of year when I turn back the time and head to Auburn, the loveliest village on the plains, where I sprouted into adulthood, or something that resembled it anyways! Ha! Each year I head there with a bit of tentativeness not knowing if I'll still get that same feeling of excitement or just feel too old! Well we have success for this year of pure blissful excitement! It probably helped matters that I was joined by 6 of my closest college friends for Lisa's bachelorette shindig. Chris hooked us up with his fabulous condo right in downtown over the old Buffalo's (i say old b/c if you haven't heard it's gone :( ) This place was awesome for us, minus the one bathroom but we managed!

Friday night, we did an in house lingerie soiree with Keightley joining us! Yay! (who by the way is looking so cute preggers!) We had some lasagna, salad and lovely penis cupcakes. I'll spare the vulgar icing details! ha! After present opening, Ali busted out the Carmen Electra Aerobic Striptease dvd, which was quite priceless. I'm not going to lie, it was super fun to attempt...attempt being the key word for all of us! Not to mention probably the only time we'll see a pregnant lady working it like that! (at least we'd all had a few beverages to help us snap and pop!) Then all we had to do was skip (literally) across the street to 17-16. Luckily I still knew a bartender and AU still has dirt cheap drinks so needless to say we were happy to charge up a low bar tab! Since most of us left our "penis straws" at home, the only embarrassment for Lisa was her to-do list! One of which was to find a guy with a condom and let me just say that we have officially surveyed the men of Auburn and only 1 in 12 guys have a condom! Sad huh? Or maybe amusing! We then proceeded on to the sadness of what Bodegas has become and then called it a night...luckily only have to walk across the street to get into bed! Yay! Saturday we did breakfast at Keightley's (yum!) and were entertained by Libby her precious 2 year old! Finally tailgate  for a bit. We watched the game at Skybar, which was perfect for beverages and Auburn atmosphere! Megan and I were the only ones who toughed it out from a long day of beverages and made it til the wee hours to wake everyone up when we finally made it home to pig out on some chips and dip!!!

I could go into many embarrassing/hilarious stories from the weekend because as always I laugh my head off with these girls! But my overall point was just how good it felt to be in Auburn again and like the bar, Cheers: everyone knew my name. I was so glad to see so many people in Auburn, which i didn't expect b/c A. I'm getting old B. it was Labor day weekend. It just made my Auburn weekend that much more fabulous. All my girls gave me a hard time b/c literally everywhere we went I saw someone I knew, which of course yes, it's expected since I tend to talk a lot. But overall, it was just good to feel some familiarity in Auburn because ironically I feel that slipping away in Bham these days. Well maybe not slipping away, just changing; I have trouble with change so that may be why Auburn felt exhilarating! I hope you all find some familiarity in your week and that you savor it because you never know how long it will last! :)
